Television Centre

ESM Power were chosen as principal contractor to design, project manage and deliver the 11kV Infrastructure and LV metered connections to the Television Centre, Wood Lane, West London.

The site

The development of the former BBC TV studio at White City, once the building where Morecombe and Wise put the National Grid under pressure due to the sheer number of people tuning in, has been transformed into 14 acres of village including gardens, cinema, cafe's and luxury apartments and penthouses with prices starting at £900,000 rising to £7m.

Our work

Four 11kV Points of connection were provided by UKPN from their HV switchgear room onsite to cater

for the 10,598kVA load required.

ESM Power designed, procured, installed and commissioned:

Plot A—1 No. 1000kVA package substation, LV service cables  to 6 commercial units and 2 No. 3200kVA HV metered substation RMU’s for commercial units.

Plot B&C substations 1 & 2 -  2 No. 1000kVA package substations. Plot B&C substations 3 & 4 - 2 No. 1000kVA package substations. LV distribution equipment, service cables to 4 Landlord supplies, 6 commercial units and 432 apartments.

Plot G2 packaged substation - 1 No. 315kVA integral package substation
