ESM Power Ltd have been appointed by Brookgate Ltd for a major project at CB4 Cambridge North.
Cambridge North is a large mixed development, located adjacent to the new Cambridge North Railway Station. The project includes shops, offices, cafes, restaurants and a 217-bed 4 star Novotel hotel.
The Work
We were previously contracted by the developer, Brookgate Ltd to perform a services survey and proving exercise and divert all services within the Hotel and Office development. We also provided the Temporary Builders supplies for the Hotel and Office development.
We are currently instructed by Brookgate Ltd to provide a full multi-utility solution for Gas, Clean and Waste Water, BT, Private Comms and a 12.4 MVA, 11kV supply for the Main services spine to accommodate all future developments. We are also instructed to install full Multi-Utility to the Hotel and Office developments (including 2 substations) for phases 1a to 2g.
Working with two main contractors ESM Power’s work includes:
¨ The Hotel and Office supplies (2No substations) are fed from a local Point of Connection which also reinforces that part of the UKPN infrastructure.
¨ On-site civils on a phase by phase basis for McAleer & Rushe’s Novotel development and Wates Construction’s office development.
¨ Provide, install and commission 2No package substations complete with high voltage ring main unit and low voltage fuse pillar
Gas
¨ Excavation off-site to existing MP PE gas main. installation of 662m x 125mm gas main in new footpath/cycleway
¨ Supply and installation of PRS (including concrete bases) and commissioning
¨ Installation of 600m onsite gas mains and installation of 2 no. 63mm gas services, steel pipework and manifolds
Clean Water
Excavation off-site, 100m in soft ground and 662m through existing footpath from the connection point on Cowley Road to site
¨ Arrangement of Highway Opening Notice and Traffic Management
¨ Installation of 1,580m of on-site water mains
¨ Testing and chlorination of mains pipe
¨ Installation of 4 no. water services
¨ Arrangement of water meters installation with Cambridge Water
Waste Water
¨ Installation of Foul Water rising main as per Mott McDonald design
¨ Installation of Air Valve Chamber, Wash-out Chamber and Break Chamber with gravity fed VC pipe to Anglian Water Point of Connection

¨ Installation of 2 way BT ducts to BT Open Reach design

¨ Installation of 8 way duct system
